When I first picked up a welding torch in the early winter of 2022, I had no idea where this new skill would take me. What started as a personal challenge quickly grew into something much bigger. Over 2.5 years of teaching myself welding, I built not only my skills but also a vision. That vision became GC Fab and Repair, a local welding and fabrication business that officially launched in 2025. Today, I want to share the story of how a simple hobby turned into a thriving business serving Eagle Mountain and Utah County with quality repair services, custom fabrication, and mobile welding.

Learning the Craft: The Early Days
Starting out, I had no formal training. I relied on online tutorials, trial and error, and a lot of patience. Welding is a skill that demands precision and practice. I spent countless hours experimenting with different welding processes, learning how to work with various metals, and understanding the safety measures needed to protect myself and my workspace.
During this time, I focused on mastering the basics of welding and fabrication. I worked on small projects, repairing broken tools and creating custom pieces for friends and family. This hands-on experience was invaluable. It gave me confidence and a clear sense of what I could offer as a local welder.
Building GC Fab and Repair as a Side Hustle
By mid-2024, I started taking on small jobs around Eagle Mountain and Utah County. Word of mouth helped me grow a steady stream of clients who needed local repair and custom fabrication work. I balanced this side hustle with my day job, but my passion for welding kept me motivated.
I expanded my knowledge by learning new welding processes, including aluminum welding, which opened doors to more specialized repair services. Aluminum welding requires different techniques and equipment compared to steel, but it’s in high demand, especially for automotive and structural repairs in our area.
Official Launch and Growth in 2025
In 2025, I made the decision to turn GC Fab and Repair into an official business. This was a big step, but the demand for local mobile welder services and fabrication work was growing fast. That year alone, I utilized three more welders to help meet the increasing workload.
We also invested in new technology like plasma cutting, which allows for precise and efficient metal cutting. This technology improved our turnaround times and expanded the types of projects we could handle. With four additional welding processes now in use, GC Fab and Repair became a versatile shop capable of tackling a wide range of repair and fabrication needs.
Expanding Services with Mobile and Aluminum Welding
One of the biggest milestones came in the fall of 2025 when we started offering mobile welding services. Being a local mobile welder means we can bring our expertise directly to clients’ locations anywhere in Utah County. This convenience has been a game changer for customers who need urgent repairs or custom fabrication on-site.
Adding aluminum welding to our service list also attracted new clients. Aluminum is widely used in vehicles, trailers, and construction materials around Eagle Mountain. Our ability to handle aluminum welding alongside traditional steel welding sets us apart from many local repair shops.

Our growth is rooted in a commitment to quality and local service. Here’s what makes GC Fab and Repair stand out:
